Activation and SIM configuration
Please configure your phone so you can enjoy the freedom of making calls and browsing the web on your own phone. It only takes a few steps. The below guide covers every carrier we currently offer. Find your respective carrier and follow the instructions to allow for a smooth user experience.
We activate your SIM one day prior to the departure date you specified during the ordering process and will promptly send you your phone number. Insert the US SIM at any point right before takeoff or after your flight lands. Some steps may require you to be connected to a WiFi network.
Should your phone not automatically adopt the settings simply enter them manually. Phone and SMS texting will generally always work. APN settings are required to use mobile data.
(Attention: US SIMs are delivered without PIN/PUK which are not required)
Outgoing international calls
German numbers e.g. always start with 01149. The same goes for SMS to international numbers. The 011 prefix is required to dial out of the USA followed by the respective country code. Otherwise a phone connection cannot be established. For local area codes in the country you’re calling please omit the first 0 – 01149 201xxxxxx for the city of Essen, Germany.

iPhone (automatic):
If you’re able to connect to a WiFi network go to http://www.unlockit.co.nz in your Safari browser to automatically configure your phone. On the subsequent screen choose Create APN, Country: United States and Carrier: T-Mobile (LTE) and tap Create APN. You will be redirected to your new profile. Please go ahead and install the latter and restart your phone. In case you’re prompted to enter a PIN, provide the unlock code for your device

Outgoing calls to international numbers
To call Germany, dial 01149 followed by the phone number with the initial zero of the local area code omitted (also omit first 0 for cellphone numbers). If you plan on calling somebody in Essen, Germany dial as follows: 01149 201 xxx xxxx.

Should you have any trouble accessing mobile data, go back and delete the APN profile. Reboot your device.
