Questions about the eSIM

What is an eSIM?

The eSIM is a modern version of the traditional SIM card. The special thing about these new smartphones is that the SIM chip is already integrated. The "e" in eSIM stands for "embedded".

Can I continue to use Whatsapp and other messengers with the eSIM?

All messengers are purely based on mobile data. As soon as there is a data connection, you can continue to text your contacts and share your trip. You can find more information here: Whatsapp USA

Is my smartphone compatible with an eSIM?

The selection of devices is restricted, as the technology is still quite new. You will find all smartphones approved by AT&T and T-Mobile further down.

Can the hotspot function be used?

The hotspot or tethering is only activated for AT&T.

Which providers are used for the eSIM?

We work together with T-Mobile USA and AT&T.

Instructions for installing the USA eSIM

Android

1. We will activate your eSIM one day before departure.
2. You must be connected to Wi-Fi to receive the incoming push notification.
3. A notification will appear on your display (push notification) that your T-Mobile cellular plan is ready for installation.
4. Tap the notification to download your eSIM and connect to the T-Mobile network.
5. After that, your eSIM is fully active and unlocked.
6. No QR code is necessary.

If you did not receive the notification, proceed as follows:

1. Tap on your home screen on Settings > Cellular > Add cellular plan.
2. Select T-Mobile New cellular plan and continue to download your eSIM and establish a connection to the T-Mobile network.

iOS

1. Ensure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
2. Go to Settings and select Plan ready to be installed.
3. Select Continue.
4. Your eSIM will now be downloaded and installed.
